The need for reallocation of space for cyclists during Coronavirus lockdown

Across the country councils are closing areas to cars to allow people to walk and cycle safely during and after the Coronavirus lockdown.  London is looking to create new cycle and walking highways and is currently aiming to ban cars & lorries on London Bridge & Waterloo Bridge.

East Sussex County Council has been very slow off the mark, and together with Lewes Living Streets, Cycle Lewes has proposed a series of spaces which should be closed and/or restricted to motorised vehicles in order to facilitate cycling and walking across the town.  Lewes Town & District Councillors support this move, but it is up to East Sussex County Council to give the final go ahead.
